Thank you. Apparently the charge is some sort of “handling fee” that Oticon demands. Widex, AFAIK, does not have this misguided policy.

Good afternoon all, after reading these very helpful posts. I think I will stay away from the Allures since you cannot , that means they can cut you off at the knees whenever they want and you cannot do anything.

Also here for the first time .
Was searching for this as I am currently testing the Widex Allure myself .
After have tested the Signia BTC 7 IX (poor app..lots of disconnecting) I must say I’m very happy with the widex..great sound ..great app with equalizer ! Only thing is the Hands free phone is only audio hands free ..no mic. don’t get why and hope this will be fixed in a firmware update.Hands free has to be hands free without having to get out the phone and speaking in its mic.
??? As for updates..how does this Widex get an firmware update..through the app?? Got the TV audio also working now ..also great ..so I think the Widex ticks all the boxes except for the hands-free.Think I’ll take it..will be checking here now and then ..greetz from the Netherlands ![]()

You can update the firmware through your phone app—just be sure you’re using the latest version. Recently, Widex rolled out a firmware update for the Allures, and the app will let you know if there’s one available.
The Allures do have two-way handsfree calling and Bluetooth but you must have a compatible phone to use this feature (It’s the same for Signia). All Apple phones have handsfree calling but not all Android phones have this feature

do the widex Allure have total hands free calling or are they like the moments where you must still hold the phone close to your mouth to have hands free calling?

Ok cool. The moments have one way calling and the sound assist is not the best at calling. Has anyone used AURACAST with the allures?

The Allures are ready, pending a firmware update

I am a longtime widex user. Just demoed allure 440 with pure sound, music, universal and classroom programs. Sound is better than Starkey omegas(?). I have big trouble having to use my iPhone. Should be stand alone or like someone suggested, on your watch. Bob Dylan and others allow no phone use.
My 1st widex were dream 440’s, then uniques 440. I still have them both but no support. I loved the tv-dex and the streamer. When I look back, who cares that you need another device. It worked perfectly. Could get perfect connection 0 problems. The sound was great but it cracked. Was very thinly made ! Twice I fixed it and now I think I need to go to 3rd party. But need more speech focus. These were aids. So, Don’t like the ’s. Told my audiologist this and she said what you want doesn’t exist. Why not?!!!
I can tell there are others here who feel the same way.
LP’s made a comeback, maybe they’ll bring back great hearing aids and sane connectivity.
Audiologist suggested i take a break. She read my mind. I had everything with me. It’s not her fault.
Using jabra 20’s from Costco as a backup for the last 2 years, after widex. Hard to be quoted $8200 — for RIC hearing aids. when they aren’t that much better. ric’s. How much more for shells or ite? Those styles wouldn’t be better, sh said. ?? I am a lot of work, I guess. She said that it might take years to make all the adjustments!!! It didn’t used to be this hard. I felt like a lawyer, a sound technician, and a researcher.
Widex has better sound but these old jabras are ok until I feel there is a better protocol for someone like me. It shouldn’t take “years”.
Am I cheap I wonder? Just get the expensive ones and fiddle around? Be miserable?? I am dramatic too but these things are important.
Comments welcome. Still learning. :). Thanks
