I was approved yesterday with terrible word score tested with un aided ears, my Spheres, and a “dummy UP aid of theirs best ear was 28% word score. Both ears similar. Met with the surgeon a few minutes. It is through my HMO so, as far as I can proceed without any insurance hoops except and CAT, blood test and getting my diabetic A1C close to 7. Not sure I will go through but some questions - some probably for Audi-Surgeon but some experience here and I have scoured forums. Give me a hand if you will and I will write down more for my followup on 2-9.
- Did anyone wear eyeglasses and what did you do about them immediate post-surgery. I am guessing you cannot wear them on the operated ear.
- Is the Phonak Naida Hearlink aid on implant part of the “package” or do you have to buy it separately?
- Does the new Cochlear Nexa have similar bimodal stream with any GN aid?
- Am I analyzing correctly that AB is using an implant called something like the HiRes 3d Ultra that is technology from 2016? If not what has been improved and when and are they behind in the game and is their implant technology on par with Cochlear. Is there any Sphere-like speech in noise benefit. This helps me some? Med-El will not be an option.
- Is the MRI and CAT usually head-only or full body. I am claustrophobic and have had issues crawling out of full-body tests in the past.
I will dive deeper and report back after the 1-9 appointment but any feedback is of great help.
