Your ideal TV streamer?

I have the Phonak TV Connector that streams extremely well to my Phonak I90 Sphere hearing aid, but I regret the fact that the Phonak TV Connector does not have a built-in remote power ON/OFF functionality.

Well, I bought a $10 remote power ON/OFF (from Home Depot, but just about any other hardware store carry similar products) and plugged the Phonak TV Connector into the $10 device.

Now there is one more remote controller on the coffee table, but now I can switch the Phonak TV Connector ON/OFF in the same way I can switch the TV ON/OFF, i.e. with a handheld remote controller :-)

I think that the myPhonak app ought have been able to switch the Phonak TV Connector ON/OFF in the first place, it would have been the ideal TV streamer :-)

I ended up using the USB on my TV to power the streamer, and that's quite handy as it powers the streamer on and off as the TV goes on and off.

I use a HomeSpot Broadcaster BA210 v2 Bluetooth Transmitter. I also power my transmitter from the TV's USB port but sometimes I need to re-boot the transmitter. To keep from having to unplug the USB cable from the TV or the transmitter, I purchased a USB A to USB C cable with an on/off switch.

It needs to use HDMI to be ideal, and if new connectivity arrives, it needs to support that, too. HDMI provides better sound than TOSlink does.

Powering from USB is brilliant. My old TV had one USB port, and it was used for my Roku stick when my 1st TV streamer arrived. My new TV has 2 USB ports. I'm in heaven. I had forgotten the 2nd port. Thanks for the reminder.

For the record, I switched to a Google TV Streamer, which cannot be powered from a TV's USB port, so my 2nd port isn't doing anything now, and I can't imagine what it will be useful for in the future, unless I put a lot of content on a USB hard drive or equivalent, which I won't.

I simply touch the controller with my finger as I pass by to turn it on or off, my TV also has 3 USB ports but the output DC on at least 2 of them is not clean so it adds a hum on the sound and while the 3rd one is better, it's still a bit hummy, otherwise works super great.

I have a volume control (a rotary knob) next to my chair that controls the sound signal that gets into my Phonak streamer. It also has a "mute" pushbutton. Since the streamer only comes to life when it receives an audio signal, this setup obviates the need for an extra power control. Moreover, I hate the pushbutton volume controls on thestreamer.

Sometimes in my case. I would be streaming when I get a phone call. Phone calls take precedence over the Auracast. After the call has ended and the Auracast will resume streaming but sometimes the volume is extremely loud on one aid and the other aid is quiet. I've had it happen after phone call to one or the other aid.

I do my usual restarting process of hearing aids first which sometimes fixes the issue but if not I'll reboot my phone so Bluetooth can re-connect which again sometimes it fixes the issue. If not then I restart the only thing left which is the Auracast transmitter which does fix the loud volume issue. Now I'll go first and restart the transmitter which fixes the issue. Most of the time it does.
