No homecast is a brand that is a bluetooth/audiocast transmitter. Your TV sound setting should be set to PCM. I have a 4-year old Samsung smart TV that it works on. Not all TV’s will have and audiocast capability. Homecast transmitter sells for 49.99 on Amazon but there are others such as Avantree.
Just to follow up on my issues with the Audikast. I think now the advice from @MarkS and @PhoebeY to turn on pcm did the trick. Thanks both. There were a few local things (involving cables and kids changing settings without letting me know) that confused the issue but it’s been working reliably for a few days now.
Audikast (original version)
• Uses Classic Bluetooth only
• Designed for Bluetooth headphones or speakers
• Supports dual-link (2 headphones at the same time)
• Does not support or hearing aids
Audikast 4HA
• Supports both Auracast () and Classic Bluetooth
• Works with Auracast-enabled hearing aids
• Allows multi-listener sharing in Auracast mode
• Built on newer Bluetooth 5.4 platform (more future-ready)
I have soundgear hearing aids. I expected that, since they are a Starkey product, I would be able to use the avantree 4HA but apparently that is not correct because the latest soundgear app is 5.1. Can you tell me if I am incorrect or if an update will be out soon?
I’m a new member, first time poster. I have an iPhone 16+, have Jabra Enhance Pro 20s using their iPhone app; all on the latest versions.
I have an Audikast 4 for my TV using the optical connection, and a C82 Aura for my Windows computer.
The phone app has connectivity issues and sometimes rebooting the phone helps, but several times in the last month I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app to get it working.
The devices work well and I can actually hear, save for the connectivity issues.
Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks for any and all replies!
I use both the Audikast 4 & the C82 Aura, with Resound Enzo iA and the Resound App, I understand that the Jabra app is very similar/identical to the Resound App.
I occasionally have issues with the connection between the app and one or other of the aids. I have been able to resolve this by either re-starting the phone or the aid. If this occurs whilst I am already receiving an broadcast, it doesn’t interrupt the sound it simply means I cannot use the app to change the volume or stop the broadcast in the disconnected aid.
Every now and then I find there is no sound when I successfully connect to C82 Aura broadcast. This seems to occur only after my laptop has been left turned on for several days without re-booting, The quickest way to resolve this is simply to unplug the C82 Aura from my laptop and plug back in again.
In my case these issues do not occur often and for the vast majority of the time I find both devices work very well with good sound quality and a stable connection.
My suggestion is that when you do have issues with either devices simply re-start them or unplug them from your TV/laptop etc before you look at uninstalling/re-installing apps
Thanks Mark! Your comments included items I didn’t mention but also experience. As with any computerized device, rebooting solves a myriad of issues. Thanks again for your comments and suggestions.
From what I understand, a new version of the iPhone My Sound Gear app and a new firmware version for the SoundGear Amps will be released soon (Similar to recent Starkey releases). Hopefully that will give us access.
Could that have been posted somewhere else? From what I am reading is that the 4HA is less likely to have any operator error. I’m still trying to understand the difference.
Hi @MarkS May I ask what brand and model of computer you are using with the C82 Aura?
If the issue happens again — where the computer has been left on for several days, the C82 Aura connects but there is no sound — could you please try going into the system sound settings and manually reselecting the C82 Aura as the audio output device to see whether the sound playback resumes?
I tried leaving a PC on overnight(it went into sleep mode) and then reactivating it, and the sound resumed normally from the C82 Aura to the receiver device. I also tested with a MacBook. It appears that the USB port continues supplying power to the C82 Aura even when the MacBook is in sleep mode (the Dongle’s LED remains on), and the sound resumes once the computer wakes up.
So far I have not been able to reproduce the issue.
My PC is a PC Specialist Initia 14 laptop running Windows 11
As it happens this issue occurred today. It doesn’t happen that often and the only trend I have noted is that it occurs when the laptop has not been re-booted for several days.
I tried your suggestion and found that C82 was already selected in the system sound settings. I tried changing the sound output back to the laptop speakers which was fine, but when I then re-selected the C82 there was no sound after I had selected the Broadcast via my phone app.
On this occasion disconnecting and reconnecting the C82 did not resolve the issue, but re-booting the laptop did.
This issue only occurs once of week or so and I am using the C82 to listen to audio on the laptop on a daily basis (often several times a day) so it isn’t a big deal. It occurs to me that the problem may relate to either the laptop or the aids or the phone Auracast assistant rather than the C82. I don’t have any this issue with Audikast 4 transmitter connected to my television.
When the no-sound issue occurs, does the orange indicator still stay on?
Would you mind giving a try at modifying the setting in the following path and see what will happen:
Control Panel → Power Options → Change plan settings → Change advanced power settings → USB settings → USB selective suspend setting → Set to “Disabled”
I am not quite sure what the root cause is, just attempting to figure it out.
I have two Avantree products, the Avantree Voyager , and the Avantree Audikast 4HA. Both work great with my Resound Vivia hearing aids. The audio of both is high quality, without any perceptible latency and the range of both is much more than would typically be needed.
I use the Voyager with any device that has a 3.5 mm audio out jack to transmit directly to my HA’s. I’ve used it on a radio, my laptop, a TV, by using an RCA to 3.5mm adapter, and I plan to use it with my cordless phone, but I’m waiting to receive a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter. The Voyager has a fairly long lasting rechargeable battery with a short recharge time. Typically, I recharge it every few days. The Voyager is really great for streaming from those items that don’t have compatible Bluetooth, or maybe better than fooling with conventional Bluetooth.
I have the Audikast 4HA tethered to an older TV and I leave it powered on 24/7. This TV doesn’t have an Optical/Digital out, so I use an RCA to 3.5mm adapter as an audio source and I don’t notice any degradation of sound quality or latency. This setup allows the TV speakers to function independently. The AudiKast seems to work just as well as the propriety Resound TV Streamer+ I use with another TV. and costs about a third as much.
I select and control the three transmitters with the Resound Smart 3D app on my Android phone easily. I just select the one I want to listen to and set the volume as desired in the app.
Using these transmitters with these hearing aids is a night and day difference from any previous Bluetooth connections I have used. There are no pairing problems, no drops. and no frustrations. I highly recommend them if you have compatible hearing aids
I have 2 devices the Audikast 4HA, which works perfectly, and the C82 Aura. The C82 sound is excellent but I’m having problems similar to Mark in that it will be working fine and I disconnect and go to another room for a snack or something and then come back and try to reconnect, it may show it is connected but I don’t get any sound. I always have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it to work. Very annoying and I.m afraid I’ll eventually break it or my USB port.
