In may not be practical for you, but Apple Airpods Pro 3 ($199.00) may be a solution while watching sports with you husband. They have four listening modes. The hearing aid mode is the transparency mode, and there is a noise cancelling mode. You could switch from one to the other. I myself enjoy silence while watching sports on TV.

I turned sour on sports on TV long ago. It the stupid comments and stats that really get me. Player 9 comes to bat and the announcer says, He picks his nose 32% of the time after the thrid swing or stupid things like that. MY problem is my wife is nuts for baseball, footbll, basketbal, really anything. So I pay $255 a month for Verizon FIOS TV and 400 channels of 60 year old reruns when I could just be paying about $80 a month for hi speed internet and be happy.

I wish they made hearing aids with the same features as the over the counter hearing aids you mention. I’d love to have a built in hearing test to check setup. I’d love to have hearing tests I can use in the environment I’m in.
My house is in the flight path for Pearson Airport. Inside is often 48 . Outside is over 78 dB. One Spaniel barking is 90 dB. Our two spaniels are louder
