Jabra 30 and Advantree Voyager Auracast transmitter

I just ordered the Jabra 30. I will pick them up in a week and a half. I was very impressed with their performance while in Costco.

I wanted to try these aids in no small part because they are ready. And specifically because I travel with a company that uses “whispers” for their tour guides. (The guide speaks into a microphone and the travelers have a receiver(?) with a 3.5 mm jack and cheap headphones.) I am hoping (expecting) that the Advantree Voyager will allow me to wirelessly listen to the tour guides. A plus is that, hopefully, it will also work with the airplane entertainment system. The at Costco wasn’t familiar with any of this. (She asked “do you know of any place with auracast?” And I do not.)

I’m also hoping the Advantree Audikast 4 will work with the Jabras. My TV has the optical output jack.

What do you all think? Am I right that this should work? I do have an iPhone but I don’t think that should have any baring on this.TIA

The Voyager plan is sound, and you’ve picked the one era where it can finally work. I’ve watched this exact plan die in the classic Bluetooth years more times than I can count, because most 3.5mm transmitters speak classic, and hearing aids simply don’t pair with that. They only talk to phones. is what changes it.

So I’d check two things, and both need to be true at once. The Voyager has to be broadcasting actual Auracast, not just aptX or SBC. And your Jabra 30s need Auracast receive switched on, which on “Auracast ready” devices sometimes waits on a firmware update, plus the phone app has to point the aids at the broadcast, that part surprised me the first time I did it. My advice is to test the whole chain in the store at pickup, guide receiver jack into the transmitter, transmitter to aids, before the tour tests it for you. The plane jack is the same trick, with the bonus that cabin noise is brutal, so lean on whatever noise program you have. And your not knowing this isn’t a knock on her, honestly. This corner is moving faster than the training is.

Thank you! I read the Amazon reviews for the Voyager transmitter. A couple positive reviews talk about using it with Jabras, one mentions Resound Vivia, one the airplane entertainment system, and one specifically mentioned “whispers”. I think this is a winning combination for me. I’m feeling pretty good about this.

That’s exactly the homework I’d have done. Reviews naming specific aid models are worth ten spec sheets, someone saying it fed my Jabras beats an compatible badge every time. Good instinct. I think you’ve found your winner.

One small ask, since you’re about to run the exact chain I keep describing to people. When you’re back from the first tour, post how it went, the whispers and the plane both. Real reports of working Auracast setups are still rare enough that yours will get bookmarked. And you’re right about the , this corner moves faster than anyone’s training. Mine included, some weeks.

I have the Jabra 30 and Avantree Voyager. It works very well indoors, and is excellent for museums. I did go on one trip with whispers. When the guide was outdoors i kept switching from the Voyager to the wired earbuds. Sometimes the Voyager was better, but sometime the earbuds were.

As for planes, music, long periods when I am audio streaming, i prefer to remove the hearing aids and use noise cancelling earbuds.

I have spent part of the day using the Audikast 4, my Win11 PC and my Jabra 30s. My goal was to get them to work with a microphone for squaredancing. No joy there, BUT, the Audikast 4 does hook up to the Jabras and works AND it comes with the cable for the optical connection as well as an 1/8” banana plug.

One major thing to attend to: my Audicast 4 needed me to download the software (Win or Apple), to install it and to upgrade from 2.? To 11.?

Another thing, the Audicast 4 uses a USB C power source. It comes with the USB C data cable but did NOT appear to accept sound for broadcast from the USB port. That could be my error.

For your square dancing, have you considered the DJI Mic Mini that consists of 2 remote mics and a receiver. The DJI receiver has a 3.5mm aux output that can be mated with the Audikast 4HA transmitter or any other device that uses the same as a microphone input. There are some adjustments available such as gain and noise cancelling that don’t involve a PC. The DJI devices contain rechargeable batteries and I use a small power bank to power the Audikast 4HA.

Thanks, I will look into it. My friend, the square dance caller, and I have tried several setups. Some of the callers are using expensive pre ‘00 equipment and the connections are lacking for post ‘2025 equipment. Doesn’t make us bad folks, just not yet ready for prime time. Cordially,

Thanks. It never occurred to me that indoors vs outdoors would make a difference with the whispers.

As for the airplane…noise canceling earbuds is a whole other rabbit hole I haven’t gone down.

I use all the time when square dancing. The callers and cuers all seem to use the Hilton products. Hilton Sound Systems2

I think your Jabra 30’s have the same capabilities as my Resound Vivia’s. I also have the Avantree Voyager and the Avantree Audikast 4HA. Both work extremely well with my Resounds. I use the Voyager HA to stream from devices that have a 3.5 mm audio output jack, like my computer, tablet, and an older phone. It’s easy, just unplug from one device and plug it into another. The Voyager is quickly rechargeable and runs several hours on a charge. The Audikast 4HA stays with an older TV where it functions just as a proprietary streamer at a third the cost. The older TV has no optical out, so it is connected to the Audikast via the supplied RCA audio out to 3.5 mm adapter. The Audikast is powered by USB C to 5v. Both devices can support more than one listener at a time and/or both can be made private. Neither device has any perceptible latency. I select the device I want to listen to with the Resound app on my Samsung Galaxy phone.
I think you will be happy with both devices.

Some more info about device accessory options. If you have a soundbar connected to a TV using a digital optical cable, you can add a digital optical splitter between the TV and the soundbar and split the audio signal to the Audikast 4 transmitter.

Be aware that if the TV digital optical output sound volume is reduced, it will also reduce the volume to the Audikast 4 unit as well as to soundbar. Also the optical cables do not bend well and that makes them hard to hide. :slight_smile:
