I got the Jabra 30’s towards the end of August. The are my first ’s, although I’ve needed aids for many years (and had 3 abortive attempts before).
I’ve had numerous problems and have had many appointments to get help with them. The worst problem has been that I cannot stream phone calls, or anything else. When trying to stream calls, the speech is basically unintelligible.
First I had tulip molds, then I had Power molds(?) Then, I asked for molds, and my fitter took impressions for silicone molds with skeleton locks at the last appointment. I asked him if there would be vents, and he said yes, 2.5 mm vents (?).
I’ve also have had atrocious problems with the aids falling off all the time, and once getting lost. This is partly due to using masks, HA’s, reading glasses on and off, and a thin headband.I am using Deaf Metal devices for that, and I still have the problem, but at least I notice them falling off and can catch them. (I got a cuff from them that I have to try).
I’ve also had a lot of feedback, especially lately; the domes kept migrating out. Hopefully, a lot of these problems will be better with the molds, assuming that they work for me.
Are there any specific things that I should ask him to address other than adjusting the molds and programs and showing me how to put them in, etc.? And hopefully trying streaming a call.
I still have trouble with speech, although it is better. And I haven’t even been in a lot of noise either.
When our fitter took the impressions for the molds, he said that they don’t really use molds much there, which shocked me! I asked if he basically had to learn on the job, and he said “yes.” Arghh. He really wants to learn and do a good job, however. Apparently there was 1 other fitter who left, and now there is another, but they don’t have a desk person anymore (or not much), so the fitters have to do that, too!! Yikes.
I have until February 22 to return the Jabras, but I want to make them work, if possible. Thank you, and sorry for the thesis!
