Avantree Audikast 4 review:
This is easily the best transmitter I have tried to date, the most flexible and the easiest to use. It works reliably with my Jabra Enhance Pro 20 hearing aids, Samsung Buds 3 Pro and regular Bluetooth headphones, and it makes it easy to switch quickly between them. The indicator lights show what you are transmitting and whether the device is receiving an audio signal. It has impressive range, possibly thanks to the adjustable 7cm external antenna it sports.
It also has a volume control, which works for headphones, but Jabra only allows Auracast volume from any source to be adjusted through the streaming slider in their phone app.
It identifies itself as Avantree Audikast 4-xxxx to the helper app, although the Jabra app only displays up to 20 characters, losing the xxxx unique identifier. The Samsung helper app does show the full ID string.
There does not seem to be any provision to assign a PIN for privacy.
It does not appear to be able to broadcast both 24Khz and 48Khz simultaneously, since you need to select the Auracast signal you want to use.
Avantree now also lists an Audikast 4HA, which was not there at the time I pre-ordered, but the Audikast 4 I received works just fine with my hearing aids.

Hi @jwerner, glad to hear Audikast 4 is working well for you! ![]()
Just to note: with the upcoming Sept firmware update, you’ll be able to set your own password for privacy and also rename/change the unique ID so multiple units are easier to tell apart.

I haven’t used the Homespot BA210, but I have been using the Avantree Audikast 4Ha for the last 6 weeks with a pair of Resound Enzo IA aids.
It was fairly easy to set up and is simple to connect to broadcast user the Resound App. It provides a solid connection to my TV with good quality sound. I would say that this is a noticeable improvement of my previous set up which was the a Resound TV Streamer 2 with Resound Enzo 3D aids. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking to connect a TV to Auracast enabled aids.
For those looking to connect other devices (laptops) to /Auracast enable hearing aids or earbuds I can also recommend the Avantree c82 (Aura) and the FlooGoo FMA120.

Audikast 4HA is optimized for hearing aids so users does not need to switch back and forth. Also there are some advanced features available for customization.

What improvements over the TV streamer did you notice? How is latency? With my tv streamer 2 I find some apps have latency and some dont and its irritating having to keep adjusting the streamer latency. Is latency adjustable or needed on the device you are using? Tnx

I was very happy with the Resound TV streamer 2 and didn’t get any noticeable lag with this this device. However, it wasn’t compatible with my new Resound Enzo IAs, which if I wanted to stick to a Resound product would have meant upgrading to the Resound TV Streamer+.
The main improvements are a better sound quality, hard to quantify but the sound felt clearer. The other noticeable improvement was that with my previous set it was difficult to hear other family member whilst watching/listening to the TV, as the sound from the TV would overwhelm any other sounds even with the TV volume reduced. With the Audikast I can still hear other sounds around me.

Hi @jwerner. How would you compare the Audikast 4 with the HomeSpot BA210 v2? The BA210 seems to offer a more complete feature set, especially with the option for USB audio, which the Audikast 4 doesn’t support. What advantages does the Audikast 4 offer that make it a more flexible option than the BA210?

That is the main feature of LEA/. You get High quality audio at low bit rates.
For us folks, we really can’t enjoy CD quality sound to it’s fullest, but the codec used in LEA can reach close to that level.

This discussion is very useful. The Space Foundation’s Discovery Center museum in Colorado Springs is planning on piloting the use of in our museum and is searching for the “best” low cost transmitter that can be connected to our existing wireless mic and PA system. We would like to “easily” be able to 1) name the Auracast transmitter signal (so guests could easily pick the Auracast “channel” they want to hear on their compatible hearing aids or headsets/earbuds when different programs are being transmitted about different special areas in the museum), 2) that we can easily set the transmitted volume for a “general” audience, and 3) we can set a simple PIN access code so when we have special “up charge” activities, we can control audio access. If this pilot program proves to be easily implemented and maintained, our next step will be to see about implementing the Auracast system in the Spring at our annual Space Symposium which is attended by several thousand people from all over the world. Our goal, initially, is to help guests who already have Auracast compatible hearing aids or headsets hear presentations better, but primarily is to foster the awareness of and use of Auracast to a wider audience. Right now, one of our docents has demonstrated the Auracast system using his personal HomeSpot BA210 v2 transmitter and Jabra Enhance Pro30 hearing aids, so we know the system can work, but are still looking at other transmitters to make set up easier in multiple venues.

Hi @Lour,
Thanks for sharing — your project sounds great.
Everything you listed (custom broadcast name, volume control, simple PIN access) is supported in our multiple transmitters, so they should fit your needs well.
We’d be happy to send you a free unit to test at the museum. 2. Auracast & LEA Devices – Avantree13
If you’re interested, just message me and we’ll arrange it.

The Audikast is better made and I find it easier to use, with clearly marked buttons and indicators, and a volume control. It has an optical input so it can be directly connected to more sources, including many smart TVs. It also has an external antenna which gives it superior range.
The problem with the USB input to the BA210, which is true of all the other USB dongles I have tried except the Avantree C82, is that it only broadcasts while receiving an audio signal from the host, which means that it disconnects when you change programs (e.g., switching from one YouTube video to another) and you have to reconnect.
My Audikast 4 does not have a unique identifier, which is a problem if you want multiple broadcasts. The BA210 has a fixed unique identifier for each unit, which is not ideal, but works. Phoebe at Avantree has suggested that they intend to provide software to add custom unique identifiers to their transmitters, but I haven’t seen any indication of that being available.

There is a new firmware release version 11.3.2 for the Audikast 4HA that adds the ability to change the broadcast name, add encryption and a password.
Avantree Firmware Updates | Keep Your Device Up to Date15
Download the latest Avantree firmware updates to boost performance, add features, and fix bugs. Easy steps and full support included.
There is a $9.99 USD charge to add this feature, but it is supposedly a life-time purchase. The unknowns are that at this time is whether the upgrade covers all future Avantree devices that I may purchase and can I transfer the updater program to another PC/laptop.
I believe once the new firmware updater is run and the new 11.3.2 is loaded on the Audikast 4HA, then you will have access to Settings where you will be prompted to do the $9.99 upgrade. I had to email the order no to support and then within a few hours I was sent a link to enable the feature.

Hi @jwerner, regarding the comment that it only broadcasts while receiving an audio signal from the host — meaning it disconnects when switching programs (e.g., between YouTube videos) — this is not true for the FlooGoo FMA120. It includes an option that lets users choose whether the broadcast should continue even when USB audio is paused.
We designed this as a switchable option based on suggestions from our direct testing collaboration with Starkey.
This feature was added in April 2025, in case some users haven’t noticed it.

We also offer a sister version, the FMA12111, which includes both 3.5 mm and USB-C inputs and shares the same feature set as the FMA120. The input switch appears automatically in the FlooCast app when an FMA121 is detected.
Users can choose either (unicast) or (broadcast), set latency preferences, and adjust other settings such as broadcast name and keys. The major features have been available since we launched the FMA120 in 2023, with latency preference added in 2025.
The FlooGoo FMA121 will be available on Amazon US in about two weeks. Some customers in Australia have already received their FMA121 units from Amazon AU4.
By the way, the FMA120 is scheduled for deployment in a major international public venue in January 2026.

It’s built on the same core platform as the FMA120, so the performance should be very similar — potentially even slightly better due to its slightly larger form factor. For reference, the FMA120 has achieved over 250 meters in our field tests and has been deployed in a 542-seat lecture theatre at an Australian university.
