Avoid specsavers ayr at all costs

After four years+ of ownership (per OP), is he entitled to repairs, replacements or refund as you say? I’m not familiar with their terms of sales and service, but I’m wondering how long a store is required to provide service for the aids at Specsavers.

True, Phonak is the main player here, if I was the OP I’d go to another Specsavers store, a lot of these issues come down to how the store is managed (customer service) but it certainly doesn’t help if the customer is venting at the time of return, although the fact they sent off the first time and offered to do so a 2nd time seems to me that it’s not a problem even after 4 years.

@Davidm a good way to really get this off your chest is go to your local Costco ( if possible) and get the latest premium models, let your money do the talking so to speak ; )

Some if the Specsavers range sits under a 5 year warranty.

If they are over 4 years he can seek a repair directly through them at another branch if necessary or by post if he doesn’t want to go in there. If they are out of warranty Specsavers can give him a repair estimate.

It’s unlikely that a third party Audiologist will want to get involved and Phonak certainly won’t.

What i am looking for is to be taken seriously and not have absurd accusations made against me and for the person who made them to answer and be held accountable for there actions.

My HA came back faulty I have the right to complain to the store who sent them away, what I dont expect is the attitude from a store owner when I do that’s not hard to ask.

This is a matter I am not dropping and taking this to the regulatory body to investigate.

As the metter of my aids still not being repaired again i will take this situation to trading standards as the manufacturer is being less than helpful in this situation.

I dont expect a lot of people to understand this is what I have to do.

This is a different set i got in January I’ve had specsavers hearing aids for over 4 years these are the second set that as still in warranty

There’s clearly been a breakdown of the relationship between Specsavers and their client. I’m not sure what hearing being a protected characteristic has to do with that. It’s unfortunate, but sometimes these things happen.

In our place we would have sent them for service and offered the client temporary use of demo aids while they were away. Specsavers offers a more ‘sheep-dip’ approach to their clients, on narrower margins.

So you abused the staff because you thought they had not done the right thing in the first place. The issue is you are not an audiologist or have the knowledge to know what the problem was with the aids the first time you took them in, so they might have only needed a clean as wax will stop a hearing aid cold. You said after 5 days they went faulty again so they worked when you got them back meaning a clean may have been all they needed.
If the best fault description you can give is “Sounds like a blown speaker in my ear” it is little wonder you did not get the service you require.
To abuse the staff members is never acceptable no matter how badly they have performed. Yes its frustrating sometimes that the level of understanding your complaint is below par but thats the world we live in, assistants may not all have IQs above 150 otherwise they would not be there. Having an argument with someone who cannot fix the problem solves nothing.

We’re lucky to have both the Specsaver and Costco options here in Australia. Specsavers have an excellent warranty. In Australia it’s a 4 year warranty. I’m assuming the UK where the OP is has the same. In Australia you’re not tied to the one store where you bought it. You can go to any outlet. If I was the original poster, I’d just go to a different store to sort it out.

Although personally not a fan of Specsavers, I think “Avoid Specsavers Ayr at all costs” may be a little inflammatory. I’m sure there must be customers delighted with the service received.

I get everyone’s point and I understand why your saying what you are but on what planet is someone allowed to make accusations like that against you as a person when you are a patient and not be held accountable for it.

I thank everyone for their points on views but I am taking further steps with the regulatory body.

The General Medical Council states In Good Medical Practice that: “In rare circumstances, the trust between you (the Practice) and a patient may break down, and you may find it necessary to end the professional relationship. For example, this may occur if a patient has been violent to you or a colleague, has stolen from the premises, or has persistently acted inconsiderately or unreasonably.”

This includes unnecessarily persistent or unrealistic service demands that cause disruption. Examples of this include, but are not limited to :

• Demanding to only speak to a specific team member

• Refusing appointments with an appropriate clinician for the presenting care need i.e. insisting on a GP appointment when seeing a pharmacist or nurse prescriber is most appropriate or refusing to see an available GP for your presenting care need when your preferred GP is unavailable

• Refusing to access the service in the appropriate manner i.e. sending emails/texts instead of using the NHS Digital approved digital consultation service

• Demanding a same day appointment for a routine clinical need – this deprives access to urgent care services for those who genuinely need it

• Contacting individuals directly via social media or personal email instead of through the practice contact channels

• Entering clinical or non-clinical space without being invited to do so.
