Jabra Enhance Pro 30 and iOS pairing

Hi all, new member, with my Costco Jabra 30s in my ears for a week. So far so good; a learning curve for sure.

My issue is pairing with my Apple iPad. The iPhone EnhancePro app is working well, and was easy to set up. The iPad is easy to set up as well, but I get no audio at all! I make sure to have Bluetooth turned off the iPhone, turned on in the iPad; the are visible in Accessibility/Hearing Devices, the EnhancePro app can see the HAs and manipulate them (changing program, volume, etc.) but no audio.

I spent quite a bit of time with 3 Apple techs on the phone trying to solve it (including deleting and reinstalling the app; deleting and restoring in the Accessibility panel; restarting the ipad; all the usual go-to fixes). As an aside, I’m astounded at the professionalism and attention from Apple techs on the phone, and for free.

I’m waiting to hear back from Apple. My last contact there was an Accessibility expert, so I hope he can dig into the issue.

Has anyone run into this?

Welcome CD. I’m sorry you didn’t get an answer. Your question is a good one. When a good question goes unanswered, it’s only because nobody who saw it knows the answer, or they’re not having your issue. I’m answering to bump this to the top where it may get new views and also to remind myself to try installing the Enhance Pro app on my iPad for you to see if it works for me. I just use the Jabra app on my iPhone, so I’ll have to download the app to my iPad and pair it.

You are right to be careful to not have a paired and powered-up iPhone nearby when you’re trying to get an iPad working with the aids, as that can definitely interfere with Bluetooth connectivity.

How new is your iPad? What model? It plays other sounds in other apps okay? Do you have any other apps on the iPad that use Bluetooth to pair to some other device? Do you have any other Bluetooth devices, particularly earbud-type things like AirPods, paired to the iPad?

Oh and please check one more time to confirm that the Jabra app you installed on the iPad really is “Jabra Enhance Pro.” Jabra has some other iOS apps in the App Store (including “Jabra Enhance” and “Jabra Enhance Select”) that I don’t think work with the Enhance Pro 30s. I’m pretty sure you’ve already done this correctly, but it doesn’t hurt to take one more look at the iPad screen.

OK, so now I tried pairing my Jabra 30s to the Jabra Enhance Pro on my iPad, and here’s how it went. BTW my iPad is about two or three years old. Also, note that while you weren’t having issues with your iPhone, some people with iPhone 17 have had trouble with this app. There’s another thread about that here. Not an issue if you have an older iPhone.

I powered off my iPhone which already has the app paired to the aids. Then I downloaded and installed the app on my iPad. I followed the instructions within the app to pair the Jabras, and that seemed to go well. But at first I couldn’t control the aids with the iPad Jabra app. The problem was that my old hearing aids (ReSounds) were still paired there in that iPad’s Settings, not to the Jabra app, but just to the iPad generally. I had never unpaired the old aids there after getting my Jabras. (As I said, I’ve only used the Jabras and its app on my iPhone.) On the iPad, under Settings > Accessibility > Hearing Devices > MFI Hearing Devices, I clicked on the ReSound aids shown as paired there and then at the bottom of that page, clicked Forget This Device. I think I was then immediately able to select the Jabras on that same page, or they were already automatically connected.

With the Jabras paired to the iPad in Settings, I could then control the aids with the Jabra Enhance Pro app.

But when I turned on my iPhone, it could not control the aids. Looking in the same menu setting on the iPhone, it said the aids were paired to the iPad. Evidently you can only have the Jabra 30s paired to one Apple device simultaneously. I removed the Jabras from the iPad at Settings > Accessibility > Hearing Devices > MFI Hearing Devices, and the iPhone automatically reconnected to the Jabras and was able to control them.

When you look in your iPad under Settings > Accessibility > Hearing Devices > MFI Hearing Devices, does it show Jabra Enhance Pro 30, or an older aid? I suggest only trying to use an iPad or an iPhone to pair to your Jabras and control them, not both.

Thanks for all this, Hamjor1. My iPad is last year’s model; maybe that’s the issue if newer iPhones are fritzy too. My iPhone is 5 years old and works just fine. I’ve tried turning off my phone altogether before trying the iPad, but still no audio. No problem controlling the aids, though, with the Enhance Pro app on the iPad. These are my first hearing aids, so no older models present. My airpods are in the Bluetooth lineup on the iPad, although not connected. I’ll remove them and try the aids again. I’ll let you know how that goes. Thanks again!
