These are my first hearing aids (after years of bad audiologists experiences—and many years of bad hearing loss).
I just got them on August 26th. Unfortunately, after a bad circumstance with our previous appointment (fitter cancelled that am, and I didn’t check my vm, so we made a big, expensive trip for nothing. Live and learn! Then when we went reschedule the cancelled appointments for both of us, they only rescheduled me! So yet another trip for my husband!
Then the last visit, we got stuck in traffic, and my husband drove (first time) and took the wrong turn, taking us way out of the way. So we were way late, and I didn’t get very long to fit me. He did his best, it was our mistake.
Anyway, those aren’t the point. I am just getting used to hearing aids, which is quite the adjustment! Of course, it’s much easier to hear though.
I will call Costco about two of the issues I’m having with the aids. That is, there is no little card in the box like a Quick Start cheat sheet, saying, press the button for so many seconds for this. I’m making one for myself on an index card.
But the directions say to turn the aids on or off, hold down the button on the aids for 5 seconds. However, when I try to turn them off, that turns them off and quickly turns them on again. It seemed that pressing them for 3 seconds turned them off. Now that still turns them off and quickly back on again. So I have to futz around for a while to get them off. Does anyone know how to turn them off successfully?
Also, I had them fully charged, turned off, and safely in the charger well (not charging). When I tried to turn them back on about 1 1/2 days later, it said that the batteries were low. Does that seem right?? Doesn’t seem right to me.
Also, I’m only using them so far in hearing in noise with the volume low, since I am acclimating to them, and the All Around program is too loud for me since I am just getting used to them. (That is not a problem, just getting used to them),
Is it normal for the sound to be extremely loud to me (I’m sure it is)? Also, I hear what sounds like a hissing in the background. Is that usual for a first-timer?
I will have another appointment to adjust them on the 20th.
Thank you!
